Which hosting company is right for a Nigerian business? EUR pricing, cPanel and VPS compared

A practical guide for choosing between cPanel and a VPS, and for understanding what European hosting and euro billing mean for a business in Nigeria. As of 30.09.2026.

Short answer

  1. 1Choose by workload first, company second: a website, WordPress shop or business email fits cPanel hosting; a custom application, API or Docker stack fits a VPS.
  2. 24hosting's servers are in the European Union (Frankfurt), not in Nigeria, so pages load from Europe and latency is higher than from a server inside Nigeria.
  3. 34hosting bills in euros, not naira, so the amount in naira depends on the exchange rate on the day you pay.
  4. 4If you were looking for a different company with a similar name, check that company's own official site; this page describes only 4hosting.

cPanel or VPS: how to choose

cPanel Hosting is the simpler option. It is built for LAMP sites: WordPress, PHP sites, email on your own domain, a free Let's Encrypt SSL certificate and a daily backup, all managed from the familiar cPanel panel without the command line.

A VPS gives you root access on NVMe storage and is ready for Docker and Kubernetes. It suits developers and teams that run their own application, database or API, and who are comfortable maintaining a server or buying help for it.

A simple rule: if you would be happy with a control panel and never opening a terminal, start with cPanel. If you already know you need custom software, a background worker or a container stack, start with a VPS. Dedicated servers and GPU servers exist for heavier or AI workloads, but most small businesses never need them.

What servers in Europe mean for a Nigerian audience

Every request from a visitor in Lagos or Abuja travels to a European data centre and back. We do not publish latency figures because we have not measured them in a way we can guarantee; the honest description is that latency is higher than with a server located in Nigeria.

For a company website or a blog with caching and optimised images this is usually acceptable. For an application that makes many small calls per page, test before committing. If your visitors are almost entirely in Nigeria and every second matters, a local provider may serve you better, and we would rather tell you that up front.

The upside of European hosting is that the network has 10 Gbps symmetric connectivity and DDoS protection at layers 3 and 4 included, and that your data sits in the EU under GDPR, with a data processing agreement under Article 28 and standard contractual clauses for transfers. 4hosting is not a compliance certifier and does not sign legal compliance on your behalf; for Nigerian data protection questions, speak to your own adviser.

EUR pricing, in practice

Invoices are in euros. That can work as a predictable reference if your contracts or income are partly in foreign currency, but it also means the naira cost moves with the exchange rate, and your bank may add its own conversion charge. Budget in euros where you can. Live plans from the catalogue are listed below.

Three examples

Consultancy or clinic with a company website

A small site on WordPress with a contact form and business email. Low dynamic load, steady visits. This is the most comfortable fit for an entry-level cPanel plan.

Software team with an API and a database

A small team that ships an API in Docker and needs root access. A VPS is the natural choice, and the monthly DevOps hours included with the plan can be used for setup and hardening.

Agency hosting several client sites

An agency that manages a handful of WordPress sites can keep them in one cPanel account or move up to a VPS as the number of sites grows. Free migration helps bring existing sites over one by one.

Common mistakes

  • Choosing a VPS without anyone on the team who can maintain it, or cPanel for software that needs custom services.
  • Comparing only the monthly figure while ignoring renewal terms, backups, migration and support.
  • Forgetting that euro billing means the naira amount changes.
  • Expecting the response time of a server inside Nigeria from a server in Europe.
  • Assuming any provider guarantees your legal compliance. That remains your responsibility, with your adviser.

How 4hosting helps

4hosting hosts your site or application on servers in the European Union, with DDoS protection, a daily backup on cPanel and free migration. Plans come with monthly DevOps, cybersecurity or programming hours as described above. 4hosting is not a compliance certifier and holds no ISO 27001 certification (only alignment); it does not sign legal compliance for your business.

FAQ

Does 4hosting have servers in Nigeria?

No. The data centre is in the European Union, in Frankfurt. Latency to Nigeria is therefore higher than with a local server.

Can I pay in naira?

No. 4hosting bills in euros. The naira equivalent depends on the exchange rate at the time of payment.

What does the included DevOps time mean?

From the cPanel Advanced plan upward, and on VPS plans, each month includes hours of DevOps, cybersecurity or programming work. You request them from the client panel and propose a date. Hours do not roll over, and anything beyond the quota is accepted and billed separately per hour. Entry-level cPanel plans do not include hours.
