Managed WordPress for UK businesses

WordPress that updates itself,
backs itself up,
and stays online for Wimbledon week.

Managed WordPress hosting for UK businesses — agencies running client sites, retailers running WooCommerce, news sites with traffic spikes, and small businesses that just want the thing to work. WordPress core, theme and plugin updates handled automatically with visual regression checks before each one ships. Daily backups with one-click restore. Page caching, object caching and database tuning out of the box. VAT invoice in GBP from the start.

We run WordPress hundreds of times every week — installing, upgrading, debugging, restoring, migrating. The pattern we ship here is the one that has stopped working day after day for our UK clients across newspaper sites, county council micro-sites, agency portfolios and direct-to-consumer e-commerce. PHP 8.3 with OPcache and JIT, MariaDB 10.11 with proper indexing, Redis 7 for object cache, Nginx with FastCGI cache and Cloudflare in front of it. WP-CLI on the path, WP-CLI scheduled tasks instead of wp-cron, and a staging site spun up on a subdomain in 30 seconds.

What managed actually means here

Four things we automate so your morning meeting does not start with "the site is down"

Automatic updates with visual regression

WordPress core, themes and plugins update automatically on a schedule you choose. Before each update we spin up a staging copy, run the update there, take headless Chromium screenshots of your top 20 pages, and compare against the production baseline. If anything looks different, the update is held and we email you with the diff. No surprises after the morning coffee.

Cloudflare in front, page cache active by default

Every site comes behind Cloudflare for CDN, DDoS protection and bot management. Page cache is active at the Nginx layer with FastCGI cache, with WP-specific cache busting for logged-in users and WooCommerce sessions. Result: Time to First Byte under 100 ms across the UK, even on the WordPress Starter tier.

WooCommerce-specific tuning

WooCommerce-specific caching exclusions for cart, checkout and my-account pages. Stripe + GoCardless integrations pre-configured. PHP-FPM pool tuned for WooCommerce admin (which is heavier than the storefront). Background queue moved to Redis instead of WordPress cron for inventory updates and email sends.

WP-CLI on the path, scheduled tasks via system cron

WP-CLI is available out of the box. The infamous wp-cron is disabled in favour of real system cron triggering `wp cron event run --due-now`, so scheduled posts publish on time even at 4 AM and bulk email queues drain without waiting for traffic. SSH access is included on the Pro and Agency tiers for engineers who want to use WP-CLI directly.

Migrate at no cost

We will migrate your WordPress site from any other UK host in under 24 hours.

A senior engineer takes the handover, copies files and database, runs a smoke test in a staging environment, and only then cuts the DNS over. No charge, no minimum term, and a 14-day full refund if it does not work out.
