Flutter App Development in the UK

Programming Services · United Kingdom

Flutter app development in the UK covers iOS and Android apps built from one Dart codebase, offline-first where the use case needs it, integrated with an API backend we also host. We build the app, the backend it talks to, and the pipeline for publishing updates to both app stores, so the mobile team and the infrastructure sit with the same provider.

  • iOS and Android from a single Dart codebase
  • Offline-first sync, backed by an API we host
  • App-store publishing pipeline included
  • VPS 1–8h/month; dedicated servers 5–10h/month depending on plan
    Included hours

What we build

We build Flutter apps with Riverpod for state management, integrated with Firebase services where push notifications, analytics or authentication make sense, or against a custom API where you need more control over the backend. Offline-first patterns, local caching, conflict resolution on sync, are built in from the start for apps used in the field or with unreliable connectivity, rather than added as an afterthought once the first bug report arrives.

  • Firebase integration or a custom API backend
  • Offline-first data sync with conflict resolution
  • App Store and Google Play publishing pipeline

Where it runs

The Flutter app itself ships to iOS and Android; the API it talks to runs on our VPS or dedicated infrastructure, in Docker, alongside the PostgreSQL database and any push-notification or file-storage services the app needs. Keeping the backend on the same infrastructure as the rest of your stack means one point of contact for both the app and the API it depends on.

UK context

UK teams building Flutter apps, particularly in regulated sectors such as fintech or health, usually need the backend hosted inside the EU with a documented GDPR data processing agreement, which we provide on request for any compliance or procurement review. We invoice in EUR, with UK VAT at 20% shown as a separate line on every invoice, and support runs in English throughout the build, the launch, and the maintenance work that follows once the app is live in both stores.

How the included hours get used

Flutter clients typically spend their monthly hours on API integration work as the app's feature set grows, store-submission fixes after a Play Store or App Store policy change, backend scaling once the user base grows past what the original server sizing assumed, and general bug fixes between major releases. You request the work from the panel, and hours past the monthly quota are billed separately.

How we work

  1. Request from the panel

You raise a request under Programming Services describing the Flutter feature or backend task and a deadline that fits your release schedule.

  2. Scope and timeline

We confirm the approach for the app and the API it depends on, estimate the hours, and flag anything outside the monthly quota.

  3. Delivery

We build and test the feature, including the backend it needs, and deploy the API before you submit the app update to the stores.

  4. Handover

You get the Flutter repository, the API repository, and a short runbook covering backend deployment and the store-submission checklist.

Use cases

Field-service app for a facilities firm in London

A facilities-management company needed an offline-first Flutter app for engineers working in basements and car parks with no signal, syncing job updates to a hosted API once connectivity returned.

Loyalty app for a hospitality group in Manchester

A restaurant group needed a Flutter loyalty app integrated with Firebase for push notifications, backed by a custom API tracking points and redemptions across all their locations.

Health-adjacent app in Bristol

A wellness startup needed their Flutter app's backend moved to EU-hosted infrastructure with a documented data processing agreement, ahead of a data-protection review before their next funding round.

Technology stack

  • Dart
  • Flutter
  • Riverpod
  • Firebase
  • PostgreSQL
  • Docker
  • REST API
  • Push notifications
  • CI/CD

Every subscription includes monthly DevOps, CyberSecurity and Programming hours: 1 h from the cPanel Advanced plan up, 1–8 h on VPS, 5–10 h on dedicated servers depending on the plan, and 10 h on GPU servers. Hours are requested from your client panel, don't roll over to the next month, and anything above the quota is accepted and billed separately.

Frequently asked questions

  • How much does Flutter app development cost in the UK?

We don't quote fixed project prices; the monthly hours already included in your hosting plan cover ongoing feature work and maintenance, and larger builds are scoped and estimated against those hours plus additional hours as needed.

  • Flutter vs React Native — which is cheaper to build?

Both cover iOS and Android from one codebase at a similar overall cost. Flutter tends to need fewer native-module workarounds for custom UI, while React Native suits teams already using React on the web. We can advise based on your team's existing skills.

  • How long does it take to build a Flutter app?

It depends heavily on scope, but a focused MVP typically takes a small number of months from a clear specification to a store-ready build. We scope the timeline once we understand the feature list and backend requirements.

  • Can one team build iOS and Android from a single codebase?

Yes, that's the point of Flutter: one Dart codebase compiles to native iOS and Android apps, sharing the vast majority of the UI and business logic, with platform-specific code only where a feature genuinely needs it.

  • Do you host the backend our Flutter app talks to?

Yes. We build and host the API, typically on a VPS with Docker and PostgreSQL, alongside push-notification and file-storage services, so the app and its backend are managed by the same team.

  • Can you help with App Store and Google Play submission?

Yes, submission and the following policy reviews are part of what we handle, including fixing issues a store review raises, which is a recurring use of the monthly included hours.
