SaaS platform with a public API
A UK SaaS vendor gets rate limiting tuned per API key rather than per IP, stopping credential-stuffing attempts without throttling legitimate high-volume customers.
Managed WAF and DDoS protection in the UK from 4hosting combines OWASP Core Rule Set filtering with network-layer DDoS mitigation, both included on hosting infrastructure in Frankfurt. Rules are tuned to your application rather than left on generic defaults, and we can virtual-patch a freshly disclosed CVE while you schedule the real fix. Data stays within the EU.
We deploy the OWASP Core Rule Set as a baseline and tune it against your application's real traffic, so it stops SQL injection, XSS and path traversal without generating false positives on legitimate requests. Rules are reviewed as your application changes, not set once and forgotten — a generic WAF ruleset left untouched for a year is close to useless against a specific application.
Layer 3/4 protection sits in front of every plan, absorbing volumetric attacks before they reach your servers. Layer 7 protection filters application-level floods — requests that look legitimate individually but overwhelm an endpoint in volume — using adaptive rate limiting rather than a single fixed threshold that either blocks real users or lets an attack through. We tune the WAF rule set to your application over the first few weeks, since a default OWASP rule set alone tends to either miss real attacks or block genuine traffic.
Attackers now use automated tooling to rotate through IP ranges, spoof browser fingerprints and probe freshly disclosed CVEs within hours of publication, which makes static IP blocklists and fixed rate limits ineffective on their own. We counter with ML-based bot detection, TLS fingerprinting (JA3/JA4) to catch tooling that mimics a real browser at the HTTP level but not at the TLS handshake, and virtual patching that blocks exploitation of a new CVE at the WAF while you schedule the permanent fix.
WAF and DDoS rule tuning draws on the CyberSecurity hours included in your plan — 1–8 hours a month on VPS, 5–10 on dedicated servers depending on the plan, 10 on GPU servers, from Advanced upward on cPanel. Request tuning from the client panel when you launch a new endpoint, change your API contract or notice false positives on legitimate traffic. Hours do not roll over into the following month, so we plan tuning work around your release schedule rather than leaving it until something breaks; anything beyond the monthly quota is accepted and billed separately.
Open a request under Services describing the endpoint or attack pattern you want us to look at, and a timeframe.
We review current traffic and rules, agree what needs tuning, and confirm how many included hours the work will use.
We adjust WAF rules and rate limits, test against real traffic patterns, and deploy without an availability window.
We verify legitimate traffic still flows normally, document the rule changes, and hand over the updated configuration.

An operator needs continuous DDoS mitigation and a WAF meeting EEA data-residency expectations; both run from our Frankfurt EU data centre.
A retailer facing bot-driven checkout abuse during a promotional period gets ML-based bot detection tuned specifically for the checkout flow, ahead of the traffic spike.
Every subscription includes monthly DevOps, CyberSecurity and Programming hours: 1 h from the cPanel Advanced plan up, 1–8 h on VPS, 5–10 h on dedicated servers depending on the plan, and 10 h on GPU servers. Hours are requested from your client panel, don't roll over to the next month, and anything above the quota is accepted and billed separately.
A WAF inspects application-layer requests for known attack patterns like SQL injection or XSS. DDoS protection absorbs and filters volumetric or connection-flood traffic aimed at exhausting your bandwidth or server resources. Both are included on 4hosting infrastructure and work together against different attack types.
A CDN's default rules are usually generic and not tuned to your specific application logic. A managed WAF tuned to your endpoints catches business-logic-specific attacks a generic CDN ruleset misses, and both can run together without conflict.
Once a CVE affecting your stack is disclosed and we assess it as reachable, we can deploy a WAF rule blocking known exploitation patterns while you plan the underlying software fix — this is intentionally faster than a full patch cycle, and buys time rather than replacing the fix.
Network-layer (L3/L4) DDoS mitigation up to 1.5 Tbps is included on all hosting plans by default, with no separate charge or metering during an attack. Application-layer WAF rule tuning specific to your endpoints draws on the CyberSecurity hours already included in your plan, requested from the client panel.
Filtering happens at our Frankfurt data centre, within the EU. We don't currently operate a UK point of presence for WAF/DDoS filtering; the EU adequacy decision keeps UK-to-EU data flows straightforward for most compliance purposes.
That's a real risk with providers who charge per request or per GB during mitigation. Our WAF and network DDoS protection are part of your plan rather than metered per attack, so a spike in malicious traffic does not turn into a surprise bill.
Tell us which endpoints matter most and we'll tune WAF and rate-limit rules using your included CyberSecurity hours.
