Node.js and NestJS Development in Romania

Node.js programming · Romania

Node.js and NestJS development in Romania for teams that want a typed API they can maintain. We work in strict TypeScript, use NestJS for modular applications, Fastify or Express where simplicity matters, and WebSocket for realtime features. Everything runs in containers on a VPS or Kubernetes, with programming hours included in your plan.

  • Strict TypeScript, no implicit any
  • Realtime features over WebSocket with Redis
  • Containers on VPS or Kubernetes with root access
  • VPS 1–8 h/month, dedicated 5–10 h (by plan)
    Included hours
  • Docker on a VPS, or Kubernetes, with root access

What we build with Node.js

Most deliveries are APIs. NestJS suits applications with many modules, roles and integrations; Fastify fits a small, quick service; Express is what we keep when taking over existing code. We add input validation, uniform error handling, database migrations and queues for slow tasks. For screens that show live data we use WebSocket with events in Redis. All code is strict TypeScript, with types shared between server and client when we also build the frontend.

  • NestJS APIs with modules, roles and OpenAPI documentation
  • WebSocket services that keep state in Redis
  • Workers for e-mail, invoices, reports and data imports
  • Distributed tracing and structured logs from day one

Why a Node.js process needs more than cPanel

A Node.js application must stay running, have guaranteed memory and a supervisor that restarts it. Shared cPanel plans rarely give you that, so we start from a VPS: one container per service, a TLS reverse proxy, PostgreSQL and Redis on a private network and no database ports open to the world. When services multiply or traffic spikes, we move to k3s or Kubernetes with resource limits and rolling updates. Migration from your current provider is free.

Keeping a Node.js API under control

Node.js runs your code on a single thread, so one blocking operation slows everyone down. We therefore move long jobs to workers, rate-limit expensive endpoints and cache frequent reads in Redis. We add health probes, distributed tracing and logs with a request identifier, so incidents are followed end to end rather than guessed at. Dependencies are checked before every deploy, since the npm supply chain is the most common way in.

How clients spend the included hours

Requests start in the DevOps Services section of the client panel and you propose the deadline. On Node.js projects hours go on moving from plain JavaScript to strict TypeScript, LTS upgrades, removing vulnerable packages, adding tracing, and integrations with payments, couriers, e-invoicing or 4b2b apps such as 4softcrm and 4notify. The allowance is per calendar month and not carried over; extra hours are billed separately by the hour.

Every plan includes monthly hours of DevOps, CyberSecurity and Programming work delivered by the 4hosting team: 1 h from cPanel Advanced upwards, 1–8 h on VPS, 5–10 h on dedicated servers depending on the plan, and 10 h on GPU servers. You request them from the client panel, unused hours are not carried into the next month, and extra hours are accepted and billed separately.

How we work

  1. Request in the client panel

Open a request, describe the API or the production problem, share repository access and propose a deadline.

  2. Scope and API contract

We fix the modules, the data schema and the shape of the responses, estimate the effort in hours and say what the monthly allowance covers.

  3. Build with tests and an image

Code arrives on a separate branch with tests on the critical flows, delivered as a container image plus the environment variable file.

  4. Hand over documentation

You get OpenAPI docs, the database schema, a metrics dashboard, the rollback steps and a report of the hours taken from your allowance.

Use cases

B2B SaaS team in Cluj-Napoca

An IT outsourcing company moves its own product to NestJS, with tenant modules, API keys for integrators and billing linked to 4invoices.

Restaurant group in Oradea

Kitchen screens receive orders over WebSocket, with state kept in Redis and automatic resume whenever a tablet loses its connection.

Multi-supplier marketplace in Bucharest

Stock and price feeds are synchronised by separate workers, so large imports never slow down the public API during campaigns.

Frequently asked questions

  • NestJS, Express or Fastify: which one should I pick?

NestJS when the application will grow and you want enforced structure, modules, dependency injection and generated documentation. Fastify for a small service with a minimal surface and schema validation. Express when you inherit existing code that is not worth rewriting. We settle this during scoping.

  • Where can I host a Node.js application in Romania?

On a VPS with Docker or a dedicated server in our Frankfurt facilities, with root access, NVMe storage and a private network. Shared plans rarely allow permanent Node.js processes. Every plan with included hours lets you spend them on deployment, updates and tuning.

  • Can Node.js run on shared hosting?

For a rarely run script, yes. For an API that must answer all day, no: you lack a persistent process, guaranteed memory and control over the version. We recommend a VPS from the start, and moving the application from your current plan is free, in a window we agree.

  • How do I scale a Node.js API?

We measure first: which endpoint is hot, where the thread blocks, how long the database takes. Then we add caching, move long jobs to workers and run several instances behind the proxy, with sessions in Redis. Horizontal scaling comes after the code stops blocking, not before.

  • How do I add tracing and structured logs to NestJS?

We instrument HTTP requests, database calls and queues with OpenTelemetry and propagate a request identifier through every service. Logs become JSON with level and context and flow into the monitoring stack. The result is that an incident can be followed from the first request to the last query.

  • Node.js or Go for a new backend?

Node.js and TypeScript win when you want one language across server and interface and need features quickly. Go wins on raw concurrency and memory when services are many and small. For most business APIs in Romania, the team you can hire and keep matters more than the benchmark.
