What a managed migration means
You do not have to rebuild anything or learn a new control panel first. Our team takes a copy from your current provider, builds the same setup on 4hosting and gives you a temporary address to review. Visitors keep using the old host until you agree to the switch, so the move is designed to happen without interrupting the live site. If a project is unusual, we tell you before any work starts.
Typical starting points
What we move
Site files
Code, uploads, themes and WordPress plugins, with the directory layout and file permissions kept as they were.
Databases
MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL dumps restored on the new server and checked for completeness after the import.
Mailboxes
Mailboxes with their passwords, folders, filters and auto-replies, so your team keeps its message history.
DNS records
We prepare the zone and switch the domain (nameservers or A records) at the hour you choose, after lowering the TTL in advance. The domain stays registered where it is.
SSL certificates
Fresh Let's Encrypt certificates are issued automatically, or your existing certificates are imported.
Cron jobs and runtime
Scheduled tasks, system jobs and your PHP or Node.js settings are copied across.
How a migration runs, step by step
Tell us what you run
Send the form or write to [email protected] with your current host, the domains involved and the stack: WordPress, WooCommerce, PrestaShop or a custom application. We come back with a transfer plan.
Share access
You hand over FTP, SSH or control-panel credentials for the current host. We can sign an NDA first. Share only what the move needs, and change those passwords afterwards.
Copy and rebuild
We take backups, copy files and databases to 4hosting, configure PHP or Node.js, mailboxes and SSL, and run your site from a temporary address.
Review together
You test what matters to you: logins, checkout, forms, outgoing email. Nothing changes for visitors until you approve.
Switch DNS
At the hour you pick, DNS is pointed at the new server. For a live shop we sync the orders database right before, so no transaction is lost. Propagation typically takes between 5 and 30 minutes.
One week of watching
For a week after the switch we monitor the site and fix problems that come from the migration at no charge.
Migration questions
Is migration free?
Yes, on cPanel, VPS and dedicated plans. We do not charge for the work and we do not cap the size of what we move.
Will the site go offline during the move?
The process is built to avoid that: the site is set up and tested on 4hosting before DNS changes, so visitors stay on the old host until the switch. What no provider controls is how quickly DNS resolvers refresh, which is why the TTL is lowered in advance.
Can you move a live online shop?
Yes. We sync the orders database right before the DNS switch so that no transaction is lost. Pick a quiet hour for the switch and we agree it with you.
How long does a migration take?
As a planning guide: a WordPress site takes 2 to 4 hours, a WooCommerce or PrestaShop shop 6 to 12 hours, and a VPS running a custom application 12 to 24 hours. Very large databases or unusual stacks can take longer, and we say so before starting.
What does a migration not cover?
We move what you already run; we do not rewrite your application, and we cannot repair faults that were already present on the old host. If the code needs changes to run on a newer PHP version, that is programming work, which the plan's included service hours can cover where the plan has hours.
Does moving change where our data is stored?
Your data will sit in an EU datacentre in Frankfurt, under the GDPR, an Article 28 data processing agreement and standard contractual clauses. If your current provider is outside the EU, note the change in your records of processing.
Do we need to be technical to take part?
No. We read the old setup from the access you give us, and support runs in English and Romanian. Your developer or agency is welcome to join the review step.
Planning a move?
Tell us where you are coming from and what you run, and we will send back a transfer plan.
